Medeama SC suffered a 2-1 defeat to Ivorian side Societe Omnisports de lArmee (SOA) in their second pre-season friendly in Ivory Coast as preparations intensify ahead of the new Ghana Premier League and CAF Champions League campaigns.The Tarkwa-based side, who are using their training camp in Ivory Coast to fine-tune their squad ahead of the new season, were unable to make it two wins from two friendly matches after going down narrowly to SOA.Medeama had opened their pre-season campaign in Ivory Coast on a positive note, recording a 2-1 victory over Yamoussoukro FC at the School Scientific de Yamoussoukro field.However, they were unable to replicate that result in their second outing, with SOA securing a 2-1 victory over the Ghanaian champions.Despite the defeat, the friendly forms part of Medeamas broader preparations for what promises to be another demanding campaign on both the domestic and continental fronts.The Yellow and Mauve are preparing to defend their Ghana Premier League title after establishing themselves as one of the countrys leading sides in recent seasons. Their preparations have therefore focused on building match fitness, assessing new and existing players, and ensuring the squad is ready for the competitive schedule ahead.The Tarkwa-based outfit has been drawn against Congolese giants TP Mazembe in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.The tie represents a significant challenge for Medeama, with TP Mazembe boasting considerable experience in African club competitions and a rich history in the CAF Champions League.Medeama will therefore be keen to use their remaining pre-season fixtures to sharpen their squad before turning their attention to the demanding Champions League assignment.The two friendly matches in Ivory Coast have already given the technical team valuable opportunities to assess the players and identify areas that require improvement.While the 2-1 loss to SOA will not have been the desired outcome, Medeama will be more concerned about achieving full match fitness and tactical cohesion before the start of their competitive campaign.With the Ghana Premier League title defence and a difficult CAF Champions League journey on the horizon, the Tarkwa club will be hoping their Ivorian training camp provides the perfect platform to prepare for another ambitious season.
